HOW TO PROTECT YOUR CHILDREN FROM ELECTROMAGNETIC POLLUTION
In 2015, the French National Assembly made history by passing a new law to protect children from wireless radiation. Wi-fi and wireless devices are now banned in “the spaces dedicated to home, to rest and activities of children under 3 years”. “Wi-fi must be minimised in “schools for children up to 11 years” and routers must be turned off when not in use for educational purposes”. French children are to be supplied with protectors, and equipment reducing mobile phone radiation to the head must be made available to children under the age of 14. Wi-fi hot spots must be labelled and places where Wi-fi is provided have be to be clearly marked.
In 2013, the Israeli Ministry for Education stopped the installation of wi-fi in classrooms prior to the first grade, and in second grade wi-fi use is restricted to a maximum of three hours per week and eight hours per week for third grade. If the teacher has a computer in the classroom a direct cable connection is required.
Wi-fi in schools is usually stronger as it in order to operate many computers simultaneously. Wireless routers in schools are therefore akin to mini mobile phone masts.
Dr Magda Havas, Associate Professor of Environmental and Resource Studies at Trent University, Ontario, Canada, says “We’ve got an analogy of a classroom being the inside of a microwave oven”. Neurosurgeon Keith Black says “What microwave radiation does in simplistic terms is similar to what happens to food in microwaves, essentially cooking the brain”.
On the use of baby monitors, Dr Havas asks “What parents in their right mind would knowingly expose their infant to constant microwave radiation?” Columbia University’s Dr Martin Blank, author of Overpowered, warns “Given that baby monitors are generally positioned relatively close to the child, the baby’s actual radiation exposure … is likely more than that from a nearby cell phone antenna”.
Dr Devra Davies, of the Environmental Health Trust and founding director of the Board on Environmental Studies and Toxicology, state that children’s skulls are thinner and their bone marrow and eyes absorb significantly more radiation compared to adults.
EMFs have been linked to cot deaths and childhood leukaemia.
If you want to protect your children:
- Avoid the use of baby monitors
- Switch off routers at night
- Use corded rather than cordless phones
- Keep mobiles away from children and have them switched off except when in use
- Replace wireless with wired connections
